On Maundy Thursday, April 9, we will gather together for a special service to reflect upon the betrayal, abandonment, and agony of the Passion Week’s events through solemn hymns, Holy Communion, Scripture readings and special songs.
In the Christian calendar, Maundy Thursday or Holy Thursday, is the feast or holy day on the Thursday before Easter that commemorates the Last Supper of Jesus with the 12 Disciples. Maundy Thursday is proceeded by Holy Wednesday and followed by Good Friday.
On Maundy Thursday, four events are commemorated; the washing of the Disciples' feet by Jesus Christ, the institution of the Mystery of the Holy Eucharist at the Last Supper, the agony of Christ in the Garden of Gethsemane, and the betrayal of Christ by Judas Iscariot.
